Farewell Famikamen Rider
MarzGurl Productions presents "Saraba/Farewell, FamiKamen Rider," the thrilling conclusion to the story authored by the late Justin Carmical. After a massive fight in Canada, the character known as FamiKamen Rider has gone missing in action, leaving his transformation belt behind, with his power cartridge missing as well. In the aftermath of the battle, a new enemy appears, seeking the FamiKamen Rider's power...
This soundtrack stands as a bittersweet accomplishment for me. Tasked with the job of building upon existing themes in the Famikamen Rider series, I composed original material that helped to respectfully commemorate the retiring of a character and the ending of a series that had come to be loved by a passionate fanbase. I chose to incorporate orchestration with video game sound instrumentation to invoke the character's connection to gaming culture. For that, this project brought me great joy, and I am profoundly proud to have contributed to it. However, it also represents an association and celebration of a public figure who was later revealed to be something opposite that which he portrayed in his public persona. The music had started as something meant for a potential online series produced by the late Justin Carmical.* Unfortunately, in 2014, the creator took his own life. What was left behind was a mass of materials and pre-production work, which was picked up by his family and friends. A group of us would later go on to create this loving tribute to not only to Justin himself but also to the character he had created, and the ideals Famikamen Rider had represented.
Below is the filmmaker's public message in regards to *Justin Carmical::
DISCLAIMER: in April of 2018, the world learned that Justin Carmical had been a sexual predator during his life. While the film remains up for historical purposes but the video no longer reflects the views of the individuals who worked with him. We are saddened to learn that this person whom we thought was our friend was a completely different person than what we believed, but do not wish to diminish the work that other individuals put into the content they worked on with him while they were unaware of what he had been doing offline. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
